Does travel insurance cover treatment abroad?

Short answer

Not always. One UK insurer's wording excludes any trip made to obtain medical treatment, naming dental work, cosmetic surgery and hair transplants. GOV.UK says a serious condition may need a specialist policy. If you travel for treatment, read the exclusions and ask the provider in writing.
